collections

My grandparents collected stamps, coins, dolls etc.  I see my friends with loads of networking connections and apple apps.

At work we were discussing the habits of earlier generations collection of THINGS.  Earl has a record collection of 431 albums.  Now, I love music, but really? 431?

Someone claims that we have never been in want, so we haven’t needed to save out of necessity and therefore didn’t form those pack rat habits.  I agree that I have never known want for anything that I needed or desired,

but is that really the reason that I don’t care about the 1885 Lincoln Penny or milk jars from 1913?

What will our children have left from our generation?  What will we see worthy to save and pass on? Will these things even be tangible?
